TS-10 Musician’s Manual Section 8 — Understanding Programs
29
Dynamic Pitch-Table Selection
The TS-10 allows you to easily switch between different system pitch-tables in performance
situations. With PITCH-TABLE=U1-PROGRAMS (on the System Page), you can instantly load
new CUSTOM system pitch-tables without affecting the sound you are playing by selecting
programs in BankSet U1. This allows you to change the tuning while playing, and without
having to actually select a different sound.
In order for this feature to work correctly, you must set the system pitch-table switch to PITCH-
TABLE=U1-PROGRAMS on the System page before “selecting” a new pitch-table program. If
the program you indicate contains a valid pitch-table, it will be installed into the CUSTOM
System pitch-table, and you will immediately hear the new tuning. If it does not, nothing will
happen. In either case there will be no visible indication of your action. The program name will
not be underlined when you “select” it, which is a good indication that you are using a pitch-
table from a program in BankSet U1.
You may save programs (with or without pitch-tables) onto BankSet U1 in the normal way. It is
suggested that you name programs that are to be used to install pitch-tables with names that
describe the pitch-table they contain. For example, naming a program PT-PYTHA-F describes it
as follows: PT for pitch-table program; PYTHA for Pythagorean tuning; and F for the tone center.
This naming scheme is useful in making pitch-table programs easily recognizable.
In MIDI reception modes OMNI, POLY, and MONO A, incoming MIDI program changes 0 to 59
will select pitch-tables from BankSet U1, if PITCH-TABLE=U1-PROGRAMS on the System page.
For more information about the MIDI MODE parameter, see Section 3 — MIDI Control Page
Parameters.
About Wave-Lists
Hyper-Wave™ architecture allows up to 16 waves to be defined in a list, which can be swept
through, or cross-faded for timbre-shifting and Jam-Loops. Hyper-Waves are created by
selecting WAVE-LIST with the OPTION parameter found on the Program Control page
(replacing voices 5 and 6 in a program). Note that when using a Wave-List, your polyphony is
halved. This is to allow smooth transitions with the Wave-List XFADE-TIME (crossfade time)
parameter, which requires two voices playing at the same time.
Wave-Lists have their own specific parameters, and are described in the following section.
How to Create a Wave-List
Select a program into which you want to install a custom wave-list.
Press Program Control. The display shows the Program Control page:
Make sure OPTION=
*-NONE-*
is underlined.
